A custom website that looks expensive, without the agency price
Websites take less time to build now. Your bill should show it. Eagle Rock is a small studio that builds custom sites for Toronto and GTA businesses that want agency-level work without the agency bill.
The short answer
If you're weighing a custom website vs Wix or an agency quote, here it is. We charge less than an agency because building a site takes far less time than it used to. AI does the slow groundwork. A person does the design, the engineering and the SEO, and checks everything before you see it. You aren't billed for hours nobody needs to spend.
How can a small studio build this for less?
Because the work takes fewer hours than it used to. AI does the repetitive groundwork. I do everything that needs judgment, and I check all of it. The hours we save come off your bill.
What AI does
- 01Drafts repetitive code
- 02Researches and summarizes
- 03Sketches rough layout options
- 04Produces first-pass images
What I do
- 01Decide how your site looks and feels
- 02Plan the structure, the SEO and the forms
- 03Shape and finish the code that matters
- 04Review and test everything before you see it
- 05Talk to you, start to finish
- 06Fix what's off before launch
That's the whole idea. You shouldn't pay for hours nobody spends. Many studios use AI now. We say so, and pass the saving on.
What custom websites usually cost in Toronto
Agencies in Toronto typically quote $8,000 to $10,000 or more for a fully custom website. Bigger agencies quote well above that. Here is what other companies publish:
Small business sites at Toronto agencies
$7,500 to $20,000
Shift8 Web(opens in a new tab), April 2026
Large Toronto agency, 5-page site
$10,000 to $25,000
Cresoftech(opens in a new tab), updated August 2026
Custom business websites at a Toronto agency
$15,000 to $35,000
Mid-market agencies
$8,000 to $40,000
Downtown enterprise agencies start around $25,000.
Software Development Ontario(opens in a new tab), updated September 2026
Treat these as estimates, not promises. They come from web design companies with their own interests, the ranges are wide, and they were checked in September 2026. Templates, freelancers and offshore teams charge far less, often a few hundred to a few thousand dollars. This comparison is about fully custom design and code, not template sites.
We build to that custom level, for a fraction of it.
We don't publish our own prices because every project is different. You get a clear quote after a free call.
Why it isn't cheap work
Because the price reflects less time, not less skill. I have 8+ years of experience and a design and development background. That puts one person's eye for design, engineering and SEO knowledge on your site, instead of three people passing it along.
The results so far, from sites we've built:

Parchmore Dental
+400% Bookings

Moto Moto Grill
Zero to High Organic Traffic
(built for a restaurant with no prior online presence)

FK Real Estate
100% Mobile Ready
We have 10+ happy clients and a 5-star rating on Google. Those results are real, but every business is different, so we don't promise the same numbers for yours. See the work.
Will it look like AI made it?
No. Every site is designed for the business it belongs to, not poured into a template. A person makes the design calls, and that includes throwing out the generic option. AI builders tend to produce the average of every site they've seen, which is why so many of them look alike.
The easiest way to judge is to look at the work. If any of it looks like a template to you, tell us. See the work.

Custom website vs Wix: why not just build it yourself?
For a hobby, a test or a one-page placeholder, a builder like Wix or Squarespace is fine, and we'll tell you if that's all you need. It's different when the site has to bring in customers.
- 01
Good design is a skill, not a setting
A builder gives you tools and templates. It doesn't tell you why one layout earns trust and another loses it. An AI builder works the same way: fast, but it gives you the average, not a site built around your business.
- 02
Showing up on Google takes planning
Search needs the right page structure, titles, local details and structured data, set up from day one. A builder gives you boxes to fill in. It won't tell you which ones matter or what to put in them.
- 03
A pretty site still has to get enquiries
Where the phone number sits, what the first screen says, how the form works on a phone: small choices that decide whether a visitor calls. We design for that on purpose.
- 04
Who do you call when something breaks?
A friend who's good with computers is a great person to ask for a favour. They're a harder person to call in two years, or to ask about search rankings. Design, code and SEO are three different skills. You get all three, and one person to talk to.
- 05
You're renting space on someone else's platform
On most site builders you're renting space on their platform, and moving your site elsewhere often means starting over. That's fine for a test. It's worth thinking about before you build your business around it.
The tool isn't the hard part. Knowing what to put in it is.

AI handles groundwork: first drafts of repetitive code, research, rough layouts and first-pass images. We make every design decision, plan the structure and the SEO, review and test everything, and you talk to us, not a tool. Nothing goes live without a person checking it.
We don't publish AI output as it comes. A person reads, tests and fixes it first. Sites are usually built on Next.js, a modern, widely used framework, rather than stacks of plugins, and contact forms are handled carefully so enquiries reach you. You also review a live preview before anything goes live.
Not always, and we'll say so if it isn't. If your site isn't bringing in enquiries, is slow on phones, or looks like everyone else's, it's worth a look. Our website redesign process starts by checking what you already have, so nothing you've earned in search gets lost.
Yes. If a simple builder is enough for what you're doing right now, we'll say so. A custom site pays off when you need to be found on Google and turn visitors into customers.
