How much does a website cost in Canada? Agencies charge $3,000 or more for a small business site. Mine start from $500. Here are the dated numbers side by side, in Canadian dollars.

What do Canadian agencies charge for a website in 2026?

2 to 5 pages$3,000 to $7,500From $1,000
5 to 10 pages$5,000 to $8,000From $2,0005 to 8 pages

SEO, per month$2,500 to $5,000From $499

All prices in CAD. Websites are one time prices, hosting and SEO are monthly. Agency prices: Shift8 Web, Toronto, 23 April 2026 (1 to 5 pages, hosting), Marvel Marketing, Calgary, 27 April 2026 (5 to 10 pages) and Webtonic, Canada, updated 9 October 2026 (typical SEO retainer; entry-level local SEO packages start at $500 to $1,500 a month). Agencies sell web design, and so do I, so read these as asking prices. My prices are “from” prices, as on my pricing page. SEO Growth can include weekly blog posts, written and published for you, if you want them. Here is what my monthly SEO and AI search plan covers.

Care, for small changes and updates, is optional and starts from $49 a month.

Why are my prices so far below the agency ranges?

I run a small, founder-led studio, so there is no sales team or office to pay for, and I build custom-coded sites with AI helping. That is the whole reason. It is not the same offer. An agency brings several people and a project manager. If you need that, pay for it. If you need a site that brings in calls, ask what you really get for the difference.

Bookings, logins or an online store cost more at every agency. At mine they move into custom web solutions, which I quote case by case.

What should I check before I accept any quote?

  • Pages, by name. A quote that says “small business site” can mean 3 pages or 20.
  • Who writes the words and finds the photos. “You supply the content” can mean weeks of your evenings.
  • What you pay each month after launch. Hosting, updates and support. Ask for the number, and where the domain is registered. It should be in your name.
  • What happens if you are not happy. Mine: you make the final payment only after you approve the live preview.

Which route fits my business?

  • One simple page, and you don't rely on Google: a builder is fine. I am not going to walk you through it.
  • A site that has to bring in customers: a small studio or a good freelancer. See custom web design, or a website redesign if yours is tired.
  • Several departments and a long approval process: a larger agency.

What to do this week

  • List the pages your business needs, by name.
  • Ask every agency for the monthly cost after launch, in writing.
  • Get two quotes and compare them page for page, not by the headline number.

Questions people ask

How much does a small business website cost in Canada?

Canadian agencies publish 2026 prices from $3,000 for a small site. My own packages start from $500 for one page and from $2,000 for 5 to 8 pages, in Canadian dollars.

Is hosting included in the cost of a website?

It depends on who builds it. Agencies often charge $40 to $150 a month for hosting alone. With me, hosting and SSL are free, and you only pay for your own domain, about $15 to $25 a year.

How much should I spend on a website?

Start from what the site must do. A new business that needs one page to take calls can start small. A clinic or trades company that lives on Google usually needs several pages. Decide your ceiling, then ask for quotes that list the pages.
